Men's Darts 2008-2009

Rules

MENS DARTS LEAGUE

1. The competition will be held during the Michaelmas and Lent terms on dates to be decided by the Athletic Union, liasing with the ICSC.

2. The competition will be on a league basis.

3. Teams will consist of 9 players, each playing the best of 3 games to 501. Names to be added to the playing card in order of play alternating between the teams with the away Captain writing the first name. This cannot be altered without the opposing captain’s consent. Full names must be entered in on the result cards not nicknames.

4. It will be a straight throw in and a double to finish.

5 No Bust Rule

This rule concerns the final throws of a game – e.g. if a player requiring a double 8 to finish, throws an 8 and thus needs a double 4 to finish, then throws a 13, he will revert to his original double 8 to finish.

5. Throws will be taken from 7ft 6 inches from the wall.

6. In the league, a point will be scored for each game won and a point deducted for each game lost (i.e. 7-2 gives a 5 point victory and 5-4 a 1 point victory)

7. 2-points will be awarded to the overall match winners (i.e. if college A beats college B 5-2 then college A gets 7 points, college B gets 2). If the top place is tied, a play off match will take place.

8. In each case, the visiting side will throw in the first game and in every alternate game after that (i.e. 1,3,5,7).

9. It is the responsibility of both team captains to bring in the results to the Student Activities Office. This must be done before 5pm on the Friday of the week the match is played. If they fail to do so by the end of the week in which a match has been played, 1 point will be deducted from both teams’ score.

10. At least 3 players must be present within 15 minutes of the start of a match; otherwise a walkover will be awarded to the opposing team.

11. In the event of a team failing to turn up, an 11-0 walkover will be awarded.
